Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has issued a Request for Proposals for programs that facilitate effective dialogue between healthcare providers and women regarding the diagnosis and management of menopausal vasomotor symptoms and other conditions associated with menopause.

Grants of up to $500,000 will be awarded for programs that incorporate current treatment algorithms and guidelines, utilize electronic health record technologies, include learning and change components targeting both healthcare professionals and women, emphasize shared decision-making, and help improve practice management. Projects should provide an individualized midlife-woman-oriented approach that promotes assessment for menopausal conditions in appropriate women as well as discussion of potential treatment and other options, including the benefits, risks, and appropriate use of hormone therapy and other treatments and approaches.

The program's goal should be to effect meaningful change in how effectively HCPs and women patients discuss the diagnosis and management of VMS and other conditions associated with menopause. For the purpose of this grant, HCPs are defined as PCPs, gynecologists, endocrinologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and pharmacists.

To be eligible, applicants should be medical, dental, nursing, allied health, and/or pharmacy professional schools; healthcare institutions; professional associations; and other nonprofit entities. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal by September 10.
