The Work of this Contract comprises the general construction of a single story Veterinary Imaging and Cancer Treatment Center Building at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. This new facility will be an addition to the existing Large Animal Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The proposed building will consist of a specialized TomoTherapy radiation treatment room; a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) room with support equipment and control rooms; Computed Tomography (CT) scanner with a control room, TomoTherapyR equipment, control and treatment planning room; two large animal induction/recovery rooms; One small animal induction/recovery room with an attached soil room, a storage room; a reading room; three offices; a break room, and two restrooms. The building will be designed so that MRI, CT and radiation therapy procedures can be performed on both small and large animals. Design of the spaces and support areas will meet or exceed the criteria for the National Institute of Health (NIH). Site improvements include drainage, landscaping, re-surfacing of existing parking area, relocation of two existing trash compactors, small exterior enclosure housing electrical equipment. Construction will consist of a steel framed structure, with an exterior back-up wall constructed of structural metal studs with insulation and gypsum wallboard on the inside, except for the wall surrounding the Tomography Room, which will be poured in place reinforced concrete. The exterior wall surface will consist of brick veneer, punctuated by double glazed insulated windows, and a storefront window system at the small animal entrance lobby. There will be NO roof mounted mechanical equipment. Low slope roofs will have a single ply TPO roof membrane. PRIME CONTRACT: All work will be awarded under a single prime contract.
